Sure of that? Look at all we, as a country, have invested in oil. Yet, if peak oil is imminent, if not here already, at best all that will do is slow the rate of price increase. The same money invested in other technologies would have a higher rate of return for the country.

And that doesn't even begin to count the war in Iraq. Amortizing those costs aren't going to show any positive rate of return.
