Let's look at another statistic that puts this in perspective:

AMZN employs 15k
GOOG employs 11k
RIMM employs 6k
CSCO employs 47K

total for all four: 79K

GM alone employs 280K

The "four horsemen" of the Nasdaq are not even one hundredth of one percent of the economy. They represent nothing when it comes to the economy. The fact that CSCO is hiring like mad has no meaning whatsoever. If all four were hiring like mad it would still mean nothing.

GM ,Ford, and Chrysler probably employ more Californians than the "four horsemen".
