There is a little area of Orange County that is the center of Sub Prime lending. Almost every sub prime lender in in Southern California.

I remember my broker once (around 1980) complained that Northern Californians were too conservative, and did not go for products like butterfly spreads. Instead, they wanted utility stocks.

Now, dot com companies whose major asset is a sock puppet - that's what Northern California will go for ;-)
