But then look at INTC,MSFT,AMAT,MOT,AMD,DELL,SUNW basically most semi's storage, fiber, wireless are much closer to the 2002 crash lows than all time highs and I have to question the notion happy days are here again. The truth as usual is somewhere in between on tech.. Not enough to support home prices in this downturn IMHO. I read The financial sector makes up 40% of the markets earnings, that is a big chunk, and if it fails - thats a lot of earnings going bye bye. Herb Greenberg really got into it with Steve liesman today about earnings going forward being practically non existant and philster already lampoons everyday this "beat wallstreet expectations" garbage you keep hearing - phil says paulson called all the analysts and COMMANDED them to se the bar low enough that even TOLL brothers could walk over it - BWAHAH! I like tech as much as the next guy, probably more since I go dressed as a storm trooper or Jedi to the dragoncon scifi convention every year, but I haven't purchased a lot of new tech - no where near the levels I was spending on it 5 and 10 years ago. Vosilla I worry about you out there buying houses NOW at 50% haircut qualifying it saying a builder can't build them that cheap and "replacement" cost is more expensive - I wonder if builders start working just to have food in their belly (I saw ex construction crew people coming to salvation army for food) and "replacement costs" come way down from where you think is the floor - I watched a special on the depression once - there was this millionaire (that was a lot of money then) who bought in the market in 1930 after the october 29 crash thinking he was scooping up some deals - a few years later this guy had to work as a waiter in a NY restaurant he was so broke - be careful my friend. The 2cnd richest guy in the game "monopoly" loses after enough time. I will be the tophat and you can be racing car - we are just rolling the dice and the game is just beginning. I have had too many people lose to me in monopoly trying to get boardwalk developed and I was over on oriental avenue with hotels already charging rent. Expanding these meme globally - you better forget about US real estate (boardwalk) and think about the international oriental avenue - 3rd world. What do you think of Argentina?
