It went through the schools? Why on Earth would gay marriage go through the schools?

To soften up public opinion. That's the whole point of teaching that gay marriage is a good lifestyle, isn't it? Are you trying to tell me that the subject wasn't mentioned in the schools until after the Mass Supreme Court passed its ruling?

The main point remains - this huge change in the defintion of marriage did not go through the Legislature. Even you said it should have, but it didn't. Because it wouldn't have passed.

Some people choose to react against certain legal behaviors, and say those behaviors violate their religion.

And some people chose to react against certain illegal behaviors, and say they shouldn't be made legal. Schools are not mere passive players here; they shape the opinions of the next generation. Many things that used to be illegal are now legal, and the schools have done their share in altering public opinion to make that happen. So it is disingenuous to hide behind the word "legal" as if the schools did not editorialize on what they thought the law should be.

According to your definition of what's not religion and allowable to be taught, there is nothing preventing the schools from teaching that third-trimester abortions are a human right. Certainly the moral views of the parents of their pupils can be disregarded, as they have been on many previous occasions.
