Except remember when the left in the USA was the Communist party? Now the left is anyone who is to the right of Limbaugh. Justice Stevens is the most 'liberal' guy on the SC and he is, in reality, a conservative. The Clintons are seen as 'liberal' but, in reality, they are also conservatives and gave us Nafta and the Telecom bill. I am now just hearing the (sorta) return of populism but it is only on the edges. It is only because we have gone so far to the right that we are heading to the left but it will take an act of unbelievable will to get 'leftish' things like single payer healthcare even on the national agenda.
