There are good pragmatic solutions to our situation that involve government. There are also good pragmatic solutions that depend on private industry. And most solutions involve both working together. Ideology gets in the way. The history of ideology in problem solving is abysmal; it CREATES problems. All the liberals on this thread wouldn't be SO liberal if we hadn't swung so far right. As an example I originally supported the cut in cap gains tax, vociferously. But things have become so out of balance....
