eplay/CB: He did a carry trade: raised money in the U.S and took to Brazil. Invested in real Estate etc.

And how many of them are foreigners recenlty migrated to the US? It can be a significant number of cases like those.

We are talking about individuals. Not about sophisticated investors.

I have a friend here in Dubai working for Siemens who borrowed money there, invested (or recycled the petrodollars) in a couple of trucks to transport beef from meat packing houses to the harbor for export.

While with his income he pays the debt here and will retire in Brazil.

The guys in the US may have done a similar move, and now is saddled with huge debt in the US. Just now making an appointment with CB law firm to see what his next move will be.

I'm : but there will be a lot of people saying, (not saying CB will do that) this is a poor guy who was used by unscrupulous real estate sharks.

Just to finalize the story of my Dubai friend:

Export of beef went down, due to a foot and mouth end of 2005. He sold the company, got money and bought a brick factory to make bricks to cashing in on the construction boom in Brazil.
