Well, in the end, the Iraqis' independence and freedom are really going to have to be up to THEM. Saddam and his evil sons are gone, most of the bad guys he had hanging around (no pun) are gone, and it's time the shock of the last 30 years starts to wear off and through. They MUST get a grip on themselves, their tribalism, their myopia, and just see how fortunate they are and can be. After all, they are sitting on the 2nd largest depository of oil in the world....and they can have enough wealth if they are smart, to have things--material and nonmaterial-- that most societies in the world dream about. Their kids could all be educated, they could have the latest and greatest technology, etc.... But fear and inaction could cause just the opposite for them. If they waver and fail to guard their own country, and the people in it, after we leave, they will be taken over by any number of countries, the Iraqi people killed, and what is left of the country will be ruled by despots who would then be sitting on the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world. These people with the wealth that oil would bring, could buy any nuclear, chemical, and/or bio weapons they wished. And they have said their stated purpose many times. Do we not believe them?
