It makes sense. I think the fear of other men having multiple wives must be close to the fear of castration, or fear of homosexuality. Certainly, speaking only for myself, if I were a young man and doubted my chances of ever being in an intimate relationship with a woman, it would be awful. However, it's not a fear I share at my age and experience.

I don't see plural marriages as being common enough to justify that fear and I don't see the complaints by women who've participated in plural marriages rising above the number or level of complaints levied by women in monogamous marriages. Its an alternative lifestyle that isn't a sin, in and of itself, in fact most participants describe the lifestyle as ultra-decent. I'm for leaving them alone, unless or until there is a substantial participant's complaint and then deal with those complaints on a case by case basis.
