Foxbats Did Fly over Dimona

I remember seeing years ago on the History or Discovery channel a recount of an Israeli pilot of an F-4 Phantom (which at that time, and for several years, held the world's closed course record of 1606 mph). The Israeli saw the Foxbat at high altitude and accelerated to intercept. The Foxbat walked away. The Phantom went to after burners to catch up, but the Foxbat did the same and disappeared. It was the first western sighting of the F-25 Foxbat. The Foxbat was built in response to the US Valkyrie mach 3 strategic bomber. We cancelled Valkyrie because of advances in missile technology, and only built 2 of them. One was destroyed during a photo shoot with a small jet that got sucked into the bomber's huge vortex. However, our response to the Foxbat was the no cost barred F-15 Eagle. In (I think) 1974 a Russian Foxbat pilot broke formation at maximum speed and landed in Japan, seeking asylum. We dismantled the aircraft and found it to be overall not a great threat. Then we sent it back to the USSR in crates.
