Ah, but some countries (eastern europe and latin america at least) are moving towards NG cars. Of course they are poorer and the price differential matters much more there. Also, refitting the car with NG in these countries is cheaper because labor costs are low and safety regulations are not very strict. This is not going to happen in USA... at least not soon. ;)

The 6:1 ratio between BOE and MCF is simply the energy equivalent. There are some areas where NG and do oil compete: heating, chemical industry feedstock, heavy oil extraction, electricity and others. Right now NG wins hands down and should gain market share.
