The reason I focus on Jews is that they account for at least half the Democratic party's funding base and so cary enormous clout.

And yes many Jews do oppose the Bushies and Zionist extremists on Mideast policy and some of the leading anti-war activists (Daniel Ellsburg, Norman Solomon, Russ Feingold) are Jewish.

But the wealthy Jewish establishment is generally far to the right of average Jews on these matters. These people were perhaps the key force that pushed Bush into invading Iraq and they are the key force pushing for a confrontation with Iran.

I for one have little doubt that Democratic waffling on the Iraq war and the possibility of a wider war with Iran despite the strong anti-war feeling of their voter base reflects the clout of wealthy AIPAC type funders.
