The American attitude towards dogs is not rational, and cannot easily be reconciled to the American attitude towards other animals It is very easily explained. Dogs socialize with human beings better than any other animal. In fact, dogs socialize with humans better than most humans socialize with humans.

Pigs are so ugly, they're cute...and I'd be against torture and murder against pigs too....Put them down humanely if one must. But hanging, slicing them up alive, and all sorts of other things are barbarian.
