Re: If these "wretches" seek a better life for themselves they should apply at the front-door for an immigration permit, as you or I would have to, not crawl under the fence and thereby criminalize themselves.

Did the 150,000 US troops currently terrorizing Iraqis apply for a visa at the Iraqi embassy in DC? Or did they just barge into Iraq, violating international law and thereby criminalizing themselves??

Re: But because it suits the vested interests that the immigration laws are broken, Americans who are concerned about their national integrity (you call them racists)....

Of course, I call them "racists" for the very simple reason that the so-called "national integrity" you're alluding to is based on RACE! Hence you should rather call it "racial integrity".

Re: But doubtless, people like you will say the problem is caused by "racism" and "xenophobia" on the part of ordinary South Africans who are angry to see their country being overrun by the horde of desperate Zimbabweans.

LOL... Don't compare apples with oranges! Have black South Africans set up border-patrolling Minutemen? Do they petition their lawmakers to erect a wall/fence along the SA-Zimbabwe border? Unlike the US and the European cases, immigration to South Africa lacks the racial dimension since it's mainly about Blacks from neighboring countries (Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia,...) emigrating into another black country... Now, that doesn't mean that South Africa's black population welcomes them with open arms and I'm aware of native SAn Blacks resentful of "foreign Blacks" in their common competition for white-collar jobs... However, you can't call it "racism"! But I agree with you that Blacks --just like Whites, Yellows and Reds-- are not immune to xenophobia, even against other Blacks.

Moreover, Africa's internal immigration is compounded by the legacy of colonialism and arbitrary borders... For example, both the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo-Brazzaville are made up of the same tribes/ethnic groups: Bantu people. Yet, because the Berlin Conference of 1885 gave the former to the King of Belgium Leopold II and the latter to France, today there are TWO Congos.... The US-Mexico issue is even more delicate since Mexican immigrants claim that "we didn't cross the border, it's the border that crossed us" and they are right --just look at all the Spanish toponyms in the US South that testify to their Spanish/Mexican roots.

The whole issue actually boils down to the fact that it's NEVER enough for a political status quo to be lawful --it must be LEGITIMATE, historically legitimate. That's always been the thorniest challenge for the powers-that-be. Be they Whites in America, Whites in South Africa, Jews in Palestine, their right, their laws rest upon their might, allowing them to turn their land-grab, their thefts, their spoils, their arbitrary bordering, into legal claims, into laws. Later they forget that their white laws or Zionist laws were made out of violence, that their laws are somehow "genetically" flawed, that their historical legitimacy is sham....
