It was a terrible time, for sure. After what our Nation had already been through, this was just the last straw. These scenes were part of the reason that I decided never again to just vote for one single party all the time. The Dems and people like Fonda and Kerry were the beacons of anti-Americanism. IMO. I still think so. Our group met and awarded a very special National award to a man named Son Michael Pham. He and his parents escaped on the last boat from Viet Nam in 1975....He tells the story of surviving in the ocean for two weeks without food with his family (he was the oldest at 14)....and of their amazing odyssey to many places, eventually to Chicago, and finally to Seattle. He is just a wonderful man and so is his wife....You will see if you look him up. It just shows what talent, will, sheer grit, learning English (he stresses that!!!) and attitude can do in this country. He speaks all over the US telling others they can have it all too.....
