Condos were much worse than single family. You were upside down for over well over a decade if you bought in the early to mid 80's.

Single family in built out land constrained hoods actually appreciated at a modest rate much of the time.

A common denominator always seems to be excess new supply in a mania hinders any chance at appreciation for the entire next cycle..
