"the end result is identical, i.e., complete disaster..." PURE speculation. No evidence of such a result. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions (even when they are wrong :-), but I believe that the OPPOSITE of your contention is far more likely to be true... and there is certainly far more evidence that tells us that a hyper-active policy of foreign intervention is what is most likely to bring disaster to us....
