<<The first terrorists were not islamists and i wonder how religious muslims felt about such acts before the extemists among them adopted the tactics.>>

The basic tactics (i.e. kill with extreme prejudice) have been around since we lived in caves and dragged our wives around by the hair. Its all about land/territory IMO. Before cavemen started appearing in commercials for large insurance companies, they fought each other in groups for territory. To group "x", group "y" were "terrorists" and vice versa. The first "terrorists" as it were. I saw them in "2001 A Space Odyssey" so I know it has to be true......

Somewhere along the line one of the cavemen came up with the idea that the other group's big spirit in the sky was inferior to his, so this got blended in with the territory squabble to further validate their rights to their own land and some or all of the other group's patch also. Back then it was clubs and rocks, today its helicopter gunships and suicide bombers.....oh, how we've advanced!
