Very true, but almost entirely irrelevant. The idea that private companies are, or are close to being, more powerful than the US government is a fantasy, it was also a fantasy when FDR was elected, or even when he was born. Its not something that has ever been true in the US, or any large country in modern times. Your kidding, right? ATT just censored a Pearl Jam song that was critical of Bush. The major US media which are all owned by major corporations shilled for Bush at the beginning of the Iraq and delivered a majority of Americans into his hip pocket. Later, ATT apologized for screwing up. Later, the major media apologized for screwing up. Yeah, right! Seriously, Tim, do you think these are just minor and infrequent occurrences in American life? Of course not. The US went to war with its major media embedded with its troops. You don't find that surprising? We all know why the army was so willing to entertain the reporters and you do too. The major media lied and lied about the war until the voice of the foreign media grew so loud with the truth and began to threaten to take share away from the American media. That's when the BBC started appearing on local stations and on the radio. Suddenly, the American media did a 180º turn. Another example.......the oil companies are making money hand over fist so what does Congress do......gives them more subsidies. Talk about a marriage of convenience. And what about American cars.......they get some of the worst gas mileage in the world. How come? Why hasn't Congress raised the eps standards in 20 years? How come Tim? Wake up and smell the coffee, Tim!
