Was just thinking about the revolution that Could happen if the Automotive industry would come up with a system for their dealerships that would allow for the decentralized manufacture of spare parts according to build envelope size. I see where the service bureaus are building strength. Lots of the old business models just are not going to work anymore, when you have a potential for "Low to almost NO labor potential"; labor costs cease to be part of the comparative matrix for sustainable operations.
Of course this exaggerates a bit, but change is going to demand these kinds of moves.

Efficiencies come from strategic moves like this, fitting into overall profitability of the partner networks which sustain operations. Maintaining large central stocks of spares is costly but essential, partners bear a heavy burden. Certain categories of parts would certainly benefit from this type of decentralization.
