Sounds like something a congressional committee would cook up. How about people put "repeat offenders" on ignore, if it is really so traumatic? (Freeloaders that complain they don't have ignore should be banned.)

Of course, it isn't the number of posts, but rather the negative-on-AMD content to which 99% of the speedlimit whiners really object, but won't admit.

no need for complication. The point of the rule should be that if some argument goes on too long on some day, and degenerates into excessive repetition, then it can be stopped by the moderator. Hopefully after cooling off for a couple days, the argument will not be resumed.

If someone is posting too much for your taste, why not ignore ? You are a subscriber. If you are worried about the sensitivities of free loaders, name one non subscribing whiner who has ever posted even one single post worth reading ?

The whole purpose of allowing free postings is to get subscriptions. If someone has been posting and reading for months, they should either pay for full access, or quit whining. Or just go away.

Does anyone actually miss plantlife ?

I would propose my alternative simpler method --
-----------
If anyone posts on the thread more than 20 times within a calendar day (the "violation day"), they are in violation of the speed limit rule. If anyone PM's or emails the moderator about the violation on the violation day or the day after it, the moderator will implement a suspension. If the moderator notices the violation on his own, no PM or email is necessary.

Suspension period will be 48 hours if the violator was allowed to post (i.e., not suspended from posting) during every day of the week prior to the violation.

Otherwise the suspension period will be one week.

The speed limit rule is suspended on the day of and day after earnings and major conference calls.

Any posts about violations or suspensions on the main thread are off topic and subject to discipline.
------------

Advantage -- 2-tier is good enough. Clarifies some things w.r.t. notification, etc.
