For some time now I've been theorizing that the majority of the other side of the default swap market is supported by nothing more than the nameplates of a few dozen empty holdco shells screwed to an office door somewhere in the Caribbean -- i.e., there ain't no stinkin' counterparty for a lot of these things, and sooner or later the biggest blow-up you've ever seen is going to crystallize on Page One
