I think the past 2 days are the general market. Clearly the bogus "30K 3dmark06" rumor did not hurt Intel nor really help AMD. These results, which appear to be for a B1 stepping K10, show that it is no magic bullet. IPC UP TO 10-15% better than the K8, which brings it close to Conroe/Kentsfield on some things, but not all. In the multisocket case, it will do okay in HPC, and bandwidth-heavy stuff, but otherwise Clovertown/Seaburg should win clock/clock, let alone the big win based on higher clock. And then Penryn Xeons arrive in early November to rub salt in the wounds.
