It all depends on the lender, the property, etc.

heck, our copier people wanted to renew our color copier lease w/upgrade and now want a personal guarantee from ALL owners which they never asked for before. On a lousy 30k 5 yr. lease.

I assume you are talking about an individual buying the property, here in florida I've never heard of a non-recourse loan in that situation, you could try to buy it through an LLC (these days most properties seem to be held by LLCs) but unless the lender is very stupid they will require you to be personally liable for the note.

Of course it's different if you're Trammell Crow, Inc.
