Probably related to M1 - last year at this time it was growing at about 4.5% y/y and its been down trending since then... and has been negative since December.
Suppress the consumer, pump the corporations...

Thanks for the info. Japan still has a siege mentality because of their meager physical resources. The information age should have changed all that but it takes time to change centuries old mentality. Will the US emulate Japan? Only when ownership of US assets by foreigners starts to really hurt. Perhaps in five to ten years.
