Where 41st or 38th or whatever in life span. OK, Why? What evidence do you have to show that its because, or even mostly because we handle health insurance differently? As far as I can tell just about none.

As I've said previously, I think adequate health care is only part of the problem. Having said that, without health care, people don't go to doctors and dentists. When you don't go to doctors and dentists, medical problems develop which you are unaware of and that can kill you. My father ran into financial problems before he died. Two and 1/2 years prior to his death, he had seen a doctor and the doctor proclaimed him in perfect health....although he was 48, the doctor felt he had the body of a 30 year old. Right after that, he had to stop the health care coverage for the family. My parents decided that we kids would continue to get our checkups and vaccinations but they[my mother and father] would go without. Roughly a year and half later, my father developed a lump in his leg. Because he didn't feel bad and thought it was nothing major, and because we couldn't afford it, he didn't bother to go to the doctor. Over the next year, the cancer spread from the maglignant tumor to his lymph nodes. He began to feel peaked. Finally, he went to the doctor but it was too late. The cancer had already spread to his lungs and brain. He was dead within six months.

Since his death, this story has been repeated over and over in these disunited states. It is why inadequate health care leads to higher mortality rates.
