"You don't need the "end of oil" to totally disrupt the world economy"

Tim seems to be a binary kind of guy. Either it is panic time, or no worries. He doesn't seem to have the slightest shred of making reasonable projections and trying to head off the most obvious problems. Better to wait until it is a crisis before doing anything.

re: As for peak oil, even if peak oil is imminent (which is questionable) "the end of oil" isn't.

You don't need the "end of oil" to totally disrupt the world economy (and especially the US economy). Oil is already up 350% in 8 years - futures.tradingcharts.com. A good argument could be made that that price increase is in anticipation of the commodity becoming more precious. When production actually does start to decline, watch out.

Basic risk management: it would be hard to invest more into alternates to oil energy clients than it will cost us to be caught flat footed when the shit hits the fan.

Planning ahead is such a liberal thing......are you sure you're Republican?

BTW I was thinking about the concept of the 'cloth coat Republican'. What did they call Republicans who wore mink coats? Just curious if they had a name for the rich Republicans.

I never said that you did.

Oil is already up 350% in 8 years

Demand has increased a lot in the last 8 years.
