Another one bites the dust DAILY PUNDIT One of the more annoying shibboleths surrounding the idea of 'Islamic democracy' is that majority-Moslem nations exist in their current benighted state because Islam has not had a 'Reformation', like the one that finally sundered the Church-State link in Christianity. A more astute analysis would be that the whole history of the Twentieth Century vis-a-vis Islam has been one of reformation, but one in which the direction of reform has been decidedly retrograde. The Muslim Brotherhood is not yet eighty years old. Al Qaeda as an offshoot of Wahabbism is a modern phenomenon, dating from a late 19th C. movement. And now we see the prospect of a supposedly 'modern' Moslem nation sliding back into barbarism. Malaysia's Chief Justice is advocating the wholesale re-imposition of Sharia Law. It already pertains in some areas of Malaysia, and the festering insurgency in southern Thailand is fueled by the expansionist tendencies of Islam. The Moslem world has bloody borders, and bloody interiors. If a nation as large as Malaysia were to turn its back on civilisation, the outcome would be disastrous. As an aside, the article notes one instance of how Sharia deviates from all norms of civilised behaviour. It reports (unattributed) how a Moslem/Hindu couple were forcibly separated, contrary to any sense of natural justice, after 21 years of marriage and six children. And yet the multi-culti zealots say we are not allowed to privilege our culture over this abomination. dailypundit.com
