Where you got the idea that hospitals and doctors just forgive bills is beyond me.

We're not communicating. I'm talking about the poor. You keep using that word but you apparently are not.

The poor do not have bank accounts to seize nor homes on which to foreclose. They don't "forgive" the loans. They just either give up on collecting or don't even try.

The poor can easily declare bankruptcy. I know or at least two people who have done so more than once. They have nothing to lose by doing so. It's just another tool in the toolkit. Only people with something to lose, people who aren't poor, fear bankruptcy.
