Russia To Deploy New Intercontinental Missiles

The 22-metre Topol-M is an intercontinental ballistic missile carrying a single warhead. It was first developed during the 1990s after the collapse of the Soviet Union and was later upgraded. It can be launched either from silos or from mobile launchers which can be camouflaged and hidden in forests.
Along with the multiple-warhead RS-24, to be deployed in the next few years, it will form the backbone of Russia’s nuclear armoury and help bolster armed forces eroded over years of post-Soviet decline.

China just showed how easy it is to take out satellites.

One detonation in the right place will render nearly all orbits null and void.

The first acknowledged maneuver to avoid a piece of debris from the Chinese ASAT test occurred on 2007 June 22 when flight controllers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center briefly fired the thrusters on their TERRA satellite to avoid a 7 percent chance of being struck the following day:

* Space.com, "NASA's Terra Satellite Moved to Avoid Chinese ASAT Debris"

Several analysts have suggested that the debris from this event would be relatively short-lived and only remain in orbit for ten years or less. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. A detailed analysis of the lifetime of the debris cataloged so far—using the Lifetime model implemented in STK—shows that just under 7 percent of the debris (135 pieces) will have decayed within ten years and 79 percent will still remain in orbit 100 years from now. The majority of the debris from this one event will remain a hazard for centuries to come. (Note: This analysis was only done for 2,030 of the 2,087 pieces catalogued to date since it appears that 57 pieces are currently missing from the catalog.)

US / Mexico : Failed System and Failed State

Jim Willie

South of the border is Mexico, whose fiscal wagon is quietly and dangerously careening down a hill, most assuredly over a precipice. This would constitute another extreme development. The decline of their giant oil field Cantarell, combined with the mismanagement of their PEMEX national oil industry, hampered by their corrupt powerful labor union, stymied by their compromised Parliament, these guarantee a monstrous fiscal problem in Mexico . The reduction in their FOREX trade surplus accelerates from greater gasoline import, a whiplash factor. This story has so far eluded the sleepy lapdog press, but not the oil industry. This story was covered in the August Hat Trick Letter in greater depth. My forecast is for Mexico to disintegrate into a failed state within two years, owing to its lost FOREX trade surplus and utter breakdown of law and order. Mexico City soon will be forced to turn to desperate measures.http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article1969.html

Israel can stand on its own two feet. If they fear Iran, fine. Let the 2 of them duke it out. If Syria wants to attack, Israel can deal with it. They are just like any other country, except the evangelicals who think they need the Jews to build another temple there so Jesus will land

Yes, fine, Israel is just another country, like Britain is just another country. But there is a certain set of common values and shared history that makes the alliance with the US more solid and less likely to turn on a dime than most.

Guys like chris and the arabists in the state dept will tell you that israel complicated our arab relations during the cold war. If there were no israel, perhaps soviets wouldnt have gained such influence among the arabs. No yours is a lame claim based on an having an amoral fp based on oil and environement. US might not be able to create democracies and freedom around the world but where it exists it should always be supported. You are a Class A hypocrite Wharf. Chris Parson's opposition to israel is consistent. Yours is immoral.
