if u ask me for an opinion on India/Pakistan/Kashmir/Bangladesh, I could probably give you the average person's view in those places. I lived there for 25 years. If you ask me about New Zealand, I could offer an opinion - lived there 10 years. If you asked me about Australia - to a lesser extent I could offer an opinion - lived there 2 years. If you ask me about the US - darned if I know that I have an opinion lived here 11 years.

Also lived in Oman for a year - that was the closest I got to know the Israeli Palestinian conflict. There was a Ministry in Oman called the "Israel Boycott Office". Every plane and ship that came into Oman in those days had to show that they did not transit thru Israel. As a traveller, if your passport showed an Israeli visa, you could not enter the country. The easy work-around was - call your embassy - say you lost your passport - get a duplicate issued and then travel where you want - and still keep the original
