All the Democratic Congress has to do to assure Clinton's victory is to keep forcing Bush into the position where he has to justify and talk up the ongoing commitment to the war in Iraq.

The country is sick of Iraq and the report that comes down from Patreus won't be good - it can't - things simply haven't improved enough and rigamortis has set in on the Iraqi political scene.

My judgment is that there has been a slight improvement in the news coming out of Iraq but that's likely due to the Military gaining more control over the flow of information than anything. There were twice as many Iraqi deaths in August as 2005 - thats NOT progress.

By April the surge will have to be withdrawn unless troops are extended to two year commitments then it will really be back to the same-ol same-ol.

Iraq is a quagmire and its hanging directly around Bush's neck - say hello to Hillary LnS.
