My life is indeed blighted by the heathens in Helengrad. If Guy Fawkes was going to blow them up on 5 November, I am not sure I would ring the alarm bells if I got wind of the plot. Because that wouldn't change the mindset of the maniacal mob, it would probably be worse afterwards than before, so I would probably decide to save my tormenters from their graves. Hopefully, after they have brought the place more and more towards wrack and ruin, the public will change their attitudes, just as King George II has gone from 95% support post 911 to minimalist dead-ender support now. If King George II had been assassinated at the time, it would have heartened his supporters and given impetus to the Crusades. Better to let the sad truth dawn on everyone so they are then faced with the reality of their awful decisions. For example, in New Zealand, I have noticed a gathering realization by tax payers and voters that THEY are responsible for the carnage and cruelty to welfare children who are a meal ticket rather than a loved aspirational manifestation of hope. It would not surprise me to see a seriously strict attachment of child welfare management to any state payments to those "caring" for children. There might even be the more sensible cessation of welfare by payment of cash. Very basic care in institutions is a better way to deliver desperately needed help. Poor houses would attract ONLY those who are in dire need as nobody would wish to be there other than those with no alternatives. But don't despair on my behalf. My personal life is blessed beyond the belief of humanity over millennia. I could die content right now. But wait, there's more. Another grandchild was born just 6 weeks ago. Just when I think life can't get any better, along come more improvements. Heck, to be honest, even Helengrad isn't totally destructive. There are still some roads being built; few but some. They are built at great expense compared with other countries. The amazing Millau bridge for example was built in a time and at a cost which would be in the realm of fantasy in NZ. Australia can build huge multi-lane highways and tunnels before NZ has finished discussing where the rare spotted dotterel should be rehoused and whether $100 million is sufficient for the purpose.
