One of the best ways to fight off apathy is to re-connect through meditating and becoming in tune with the Gaia philosophy. This philosophy emphasizes that that the earth’s forests, oceans, animal life and human civilizations are all part of a single inter-connected, living, breathing organism. Through Gaia focused meditation a person may connect and realize that by helping the environment and those less fortunate –they are also helping themselves. Visionary thinkers such as Ethno-botanist, Terrence McKenna, and the Indian physicist Amit Goswami provide an additional motivation for adopting a Gaia orientated mediation. They believe the human race is fast approaching the next stage of evolution –a stage that will be differentiated from those preceding it by a CONSCIOUS willingness to tap into a tele-kinetic global mind. The manifestation of this global mind will be the literal manifestation of the Gaia philosophy, and eventually create an earth without pollution, war or poverty. Below is a practical meditation that allows one to tap into, communicate and actually FEEL the power of Gaia: Breathe slowly and calmly. Observe and feel each breath as it enters and leaves your body (do this for as long as it takes for you to measurably notice the slowing down of your body systems (heart rate, breathing, etc.) Notice a warming or tingling sensation in your throat and/or center of your chest, the sensations may continue spreading to your hands, legs and feet—you are now creating a communication vessel between you and Gaia. Note: Many meditation practices emphasize observation and breathing. The Gaia mediation differentiates itself by cultivating a feeling of appreciation. Often we are caught up in a cycle of needs and desires. These keep us in a perpetual state of disconnect. The best way to break this cycle is to cultivate a feeling of gratefulness. Think of a person who has helped you in the past, or a specific event that you were so fortunate to experience As you remember, a feeling of gratefulness will manifest in your body. As this feeling manifests, observe the further warming and opening of your chest. You are now doing what all human beings were designed and meant to do on this planet– radiating an expression of love. At this moment you are ready to invite Gaia, the earth consciousness, into your heart. A communication vessel has been created in your mind that will allow you to give, and receive love and communication with Gaia. This loving communication will rejuvenate and recharge your soul and make you AND Gaia stronger! The cycle of desire has been replaced with the cycle of love. The final stage of the meditation is to CONSCIOUSLY attempt to tap into a global consciousness and vision the earth, the oceans, the forests, the animals and your fellow human beings as a single, living, breathing organism. A deep understanding that it is necessary to connect with the earth in order to save it should manifest Another way to think about this practice is to contemplate the noble truth that one needs to be ACTIVELY LOVING to receive the love of Gaia or… as the Beatles put it, the love you make is equal to the love you take… Empowerment Works!inspiredcitizen.wordpress.com
