I know what you mean, and maybe you're right, but I come from a background of lengthy employment in the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Secretary, as a public information officer with many different titles during the years, where the BLS stats originated every week. I had to deal with those stats and, after leaving government, have had ample opportuntiy to see how they are applied.

I have my opinion. You are more than welcome to yours. Neither yours nor mine will make much difference, will they? <<gg>>

Numbers are numbers. The people promoting them are the news.

As a former Realtor, I know the figure you gave is much higher than 450,000.
