You never told us why your friend prefers the Canadian system to the French. Do you know?

Sure our system is half socialized as it is.

I took the time to see the documentary, whereas many on SI pass judgement on Moore's work, without seeing it.

I checked and it's not playing anywhere around here.

I went to his web site and found this "Checkup of the Facts" figuring that might be representative of the contents of the film. There was a lot of interesting stuff there, but almost all of it was background or peripheral. Perhaps in the movie he honed in more on the salient elements, but if it was filled with all this "stuff," maybe he didn't.

As for the facts, themselves, here are a couple of interesting ones. 54.4 million people lack health insurance at least part of the year. And 18 million Americans will die this year due to lack of insurance. That's amazing. If a third of uninsured people die each year, by the time Congress could get around to creating something for the uninsured, they'll all be dead. Hmmmm.
