Yet when the wall came down and the Soviet threat diminished, the first thing the citizens of Berlin demanded was the departure of all American troops. As for the W's speeches yesterday. Recall he likes grandeur. I am reminded that this same man stood on an aircraft carrier over four years ago to announce the end of major military operations in Iraq. Yesterday he went to Anbar to announce major combat operations in Iraq will continue for as long as American generals calmly assess they should. I was not impressed. uw
