Under a national healthcare system, it would be easy for bureaucrats to engineer a variety of behavioral control incentives. For example, patients could receive reward points for getting various tests and check-ups. These points could be redeemed for lower deductibles or copays.

But why wait? They could try it on Medicare right now. Medicare recipients are already accustomed to being jerked around by bureaucrats... they would know how to play along. Within a few years we would begin to find out whether this would prolong life and improve health -- or, just increase costs. I think, to varying degrees it would do both.

This could be done in a few limited markets - for the study purposes. Makes more sense than allowing social engineering geniuses like Edwards to impose it all at once on the entire nation.
