The list of absurd ideas to fix housing keeps growing. The Fed is proposing loan service companies modify the terms to prevent foreclosures. Since when can servicer providers do that? All the arguments for housing including demographics and "home prices never fall" are now busted. Everyone with a pulse bought one or more homes during the bubble. Who needs another one?

There's also this aspect. Insurers have more incentive than individuals who face no further marginal costs to exert pressure on pricing.
