I'm all for eliminating the income tax and eliminating most of the federal government as Ron Paul proposes. The problem with taxing the income of individuals is twofold. It acts as a disincentive to produce and it creates an entitlement attitude by those paying the tax. They figure that if I have to pay, then I should be receiving a benefit. This is why we are to the point where most people are lazy but expect the government to pay for their healthcare, retirement and bail them out of their problems that are mostly created by themselves.
