WHOOPS!

Interesting. There's a piece in the print edition of the LA Times today (for you SoCaler's, its on the front page of the "Calendar" section) which isn't available online. (Somebody afraid of too wide a distribution?)

Seems that close to 2 dozen DVD's will be released on 9/11, including "Bones", "Grey's Anatomy", and "The Starter Wife". One that WON'T be that was expected to be is an item titled "The Path to 9/11", originally a 5-hour $40M miniseries by ABC which won 7 Emmies and had a combined 2-night audience of 25M. Here's what Amazon has to say:

The sereies' writer, Cyrus Nowrasteh, charges powerful political forces are behind this: Slick and Shrillery. There's qalegacy involved and a shot at the WH. To quote the article quoting Nowrasteh: "if Hillary weren't running for President, this wouldn't be a problem." Nowrasteh reports receiving death threats (source unspecified) even before the series aired.

To quote the LA Times article again,
"Even before 'The Path To 9/11' aired on ABC late last summer, the docudrama ignited a political firestorm, almost entirely from high-profile Democratic leaders who viewed the account of events as leading up to the terrorist attacks as a right-wing hatchet job on the Clinton administration and its efforts to capture or kill Osama bin Laden."

(Wasn't Peter Jennings the anchor of CBS Evening News? Doesn't he have a reputation as a flaming liberal?

An ABC spokesperson said ANC has no release date for the DVD at this time.

To again quote the times article:
"Last year, a Clinton spokesman referred to the ABC enterprise as 'despicable' and the Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) and four other Democratic senators signed a letter to Disney Chief Executive Robert A. Iger stating that if the miniseries were shown, it would deeply damage Disney's reputation. As a result of the tumult, ABC was unable to attract advertisers for the miniseries."

Limbaugh has been the only well-known media figure to comment on the matter.

Oliver Stone, a bleeding liberal, has decried this as blatant censorship.

Nowrasteh was twice given release dates by ABC and then told there was no specific release date. To quote him from the article:
"Every controversial movie I can think of, whether it's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' the Reagan miniseries... they were all released; they were broadcast. You can get them on DVD."

NOW we have our OWN 'Dark Powers' conspiracy theory just like the left!
