Yes it combined a personal attack, with a distortion of the actual issue. If you want to restrain the growth of social programs its "Why do you want the elderly and little children to starve to death on the street"? If you argue rent control its "Why do you want people to be thrown out on the street because they can't afford the rent?" If you argue for respecting the 2nd amendment and/or against gun control, its "Why do you love gun violence so much?"
