This is a case filed 9/4/07 by the ACLU in Orange County, CA:

Souhair Khatib v. County of Orange

9/4/2007 SACV 07-1012 DOC
Plaintiff alleges civil rights violations in denial of right to wear religious Muslim head scarf.

I wonder what the context might be....

Well, in a big way this is a discussion of politics. This "war on drugs" has been going on for many many years, both Dem and Repub, and as far back as Carter days, if not before.

I agree.....NADA is being really done about the problem. Either from a user standpoint, and the problems we all face from some of the actions some of those users cause... nor from the standpoint of those who are bringing in the drugs, AS WELL AS for the drugs that can evidently been easily made with supplies already here.

I don't know what will happen to our future generations.

It's like global warming.

NONE of the scientists agree.

The politicians sure as heck don't know. And I don't trust any of the do-gooders or social workers farther than I could toss them.

I think the citizens need really to start talking in their own neighborhoods, and let the facts and some gathering of some of the stats available come out.

We could do it, IF we really try to educate ourselves. Go sit for weeks on end in Naranon meetings and Alanon meetings. Learn some facts. That will be a start. You can be sure the politicians don't and haven't done that.

Do you think we are making any attempt to curb drug usage? We appear to be totally hell bent on the supply side but IMO we are doing NADA on the consumption side. While there is a demand there WILL be a supply and no amount of laws or enforcement or para military nazi police teams is going to change that.

We have the war on drugs.

We have defeated armies, countries and political systems. But we have never won a war against a simple noun.

The war against terror is another example of a war against a noun, as is the war against poverty.

It occurred to me that most of that paragraph could apply to illegal immigration or lots of other things:

Do you think we are making any attempt to curb illegal immigration? We appear to be totally hell bent on the supply side but IMO we are doing NADA on the consumption side. While there is a demand there WILL be a supply and no amount of laws or enforcement or para military nazi police teams is going to change that.

Our present path has created the .... the coyote gangs ... . We are doing nothing but creating a bigger mess is all I'm saying. Would legalizing be the cat's ass? I have little idea I just know what we are doing is not working even a little bit. Unlike folks in government I've learned by being in business if what your doing isn't working you need to change quickly or you won't be in business. Of course they don't face that penalty they will just raise our taxes and fees to continue to fund more and more law enforcement that won't work.

It is strange to me that we don't want to give up on law enforcement as applied to murder, arson, pedophilia and car theft because we have the laws and arrest and imprison people for these things but they don't stop.

Ironically..........our local TV station KOMO had a piece about the Marijuana crackdown going on in our state.

Click on ......

Top Video: Police take to the air in drug crackdown

komotv.com

229,000 plants destroyed at a cost of "about a million."

Don't know how accurate their stats are, and don't know if they've even started looking in the Okanogan, but I doubt there are fewer than millions of marijuana plants growing there.

Good exercise for SWAT. Geographically, Moses lake area is a lot like Afghanistan.
