We need to view 1947-48 as kumar views India-Pak as an era of population transfers. Same goes on in iraq today. By the way the Jews gained more land in the 47-48 war than what they lost in Judea-Samaria. How many folks were living there before they were expelled? What percentage of overall pop were they in 48?

A small percentage about 5000 people, mostly in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem and Gush Etzion. The real population exchange came from the 750,000 Jews of the Arab lands.

But the Arabs refused to view it as a population exchange. They stuck the Arab refugees of Palestine into refugee camps and made them perpetual refugees on the UN Dole. Arafat broke the deal at Taba over the "right of return" of these 4 or 5 million (no one knows) Palestinian "refugees" to Israel - not to Palestine.

If they wanted to build Palestine they would want their people to come home to Palestine. But they want them to go to Israel instead. Shows their true goal.
