Here's my recipe:

Shoot one elk and skin it.

Hang same in a cool place for ten days, out of reach of dogs and other critters.

Cut and wrap choice steaks, being careful to excise fatty and connective tissues.

Grind scraps and tough cuts into hamburger.

Freeze same.

Remove one package from freezer, thaw in refrigerator or if time is short, in a metal bowl floating in warm water.

Grill fast over peanut oil or on an open fire.

Don't over cook, as elk has little fat and quickly turns tough if cooked too long. Leave a little pink, at most. At best, leave a little red.

Enjoy!
