I don't think the retail consumer pays a lot of attention to component brands. They buy on price. The true achievement is that Intel is making $ billions in profits, while AMD is desperately slashing prices and incurring $billions in losses.

Driving their own company into bankruptcy is usually not considered an achievement. But then supporters of AMD hold its management to a much lower standard than a normal profitable company.

Been there, done that, samo samo.

Sightings at Circuit City/Best Buy/Fry's/Costco have been reported ad nauseum, as if that ever directly correlated to overall marketshare or profits.
