I had a chance to ask him further tonight after soccer practice, and it apparently was an advertisement he saw. He's a fairly thoughtful kid, so while I could show him what it would be like, and he might not like that experience, he also might still buy that it was better for the planet. Thankfully, we have talked a lot about advertisements, initially in regards to toys and how the reality differs from what is presented on TV, and he mostly trusts my take on things as long as I provide some supporting logic/evidence. We had a much longer discussion at dinner. Has the algore $100 million ad campaign started?

Edit: Plus my carbon footprint is tiny. Conservation is second nature around here. One thing surviving heroin addiction will do for you is teach you how little you actually need to get by. Not the best way to learn budgeting I'm sure, but there's an up side to everything.
