Those were some of his words, but the lines I remember I think he may have spoken to his daughter (or someone else standing there) when the soldiers initially went to get the wagons. He thought they were leaving. I remember him clasping his hands and saying something like: "God loves a sinner come to his way..." (or something close). At that point the soldiers started to roll the wagons over and he realized (in horror) they were planning to stay...
