OT: Yes, it was just routine. I still have my port installed in my chest, and I have to have it flushed out every six weeks in order to keep it from getting infected. Normally, they allow chemo patients to have the port removed once chemo is finished, but my doctor (the Oncologist) wanted me to keep it in for a few months just in case.

Btw, oncologists prefer that chemo patients have ports installed. It is a device that is installed in the chest and tied into an artery in the neck. During surgery, they use a laser for the installation procedure. The procedure has to be reversed to remove it....and yes, they have to put you to sleep both times.
